Living rosary to start Saturday

Greensburg — Sister Patricia O'Bryan of the Oldenburg Holy Family Church will restart the tradition of a living rosary this weekend.

Beginning Saturday, "Sister Pat," as O'Bryan is commonly known throughout the area, will assign each participant a different mystery of the rosary.

For the subsequent 20 days, each person taking part will move to the following mystery and offer their prayers and reflection.

“This is an effort to remind people to pray every day to honor the Lord and His blessed mother,” said Karen O’Bryan, "Sister Pat’s" sibling.

O’Bryan said the tradition started in the 1800s, but has since gone by the wayside. Sister Pat, O’Bryan said, wanted to restart the tradition.

If enough people express interest, the event is planned to take place monthly.

The living rosary is open to all Catholics, as well as to anyone not of the Catholic faith.

The second rosary is set for Feb. 2.

To be added to the list of assignments, email Sister Patricia O'Bryan at sisters-sister@juno.com.
