Greensburg — A drug investigation by the Greensburg Police Department (GPD) into alleged heroin dealing resulted in the arrest of four individuals Friday.

According to Charging Information filed Monday in the Decatur Circuit Court, Rhiannon P. Snyder, 20, Jared M. McColloch, 22, Aaron M. Wolferst, 19, and Christopher L. Harris, 37, all of Greensburg, have been arrested and formally charged with multiple drug-related crimes.

Snyder faces two counts of dealing in a narcotic drug (heroin), a class “A” felony, and a charge of neglect of a dependent, a class “C” felony. McColloch, likewise, faces a charge of dealing in a narcotic drug (heroin) and neglect of a dependent. Wolferst was charged Monday with dealing in a narcotic drug (heroin), maintaining a common nuisance (class “D” felony), receiving stolen property (class “D” felony) and possession of paraphernalia (class “A” misdemeanor). Harris faces charges of maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.

The litany of charges levied against the suspects stem from separate incidents last week, in which Snyder and McColloch are alleged to have delivered heroin to an undercover police officer in exchange for cash.

Wolferst supplied the drug to Snyder in the completion of the first transaction, which occurred Thursday outside of 315 West Forsythe Street, identified in police reports as the residence of Wolferst, Harris and McColloch.

Police maintain a second undercover drug purchase occurred Friday afternoon, this one delivered by McColloch in the presence of Snyder and the couple’s two children, age 20 months and 8 months respectively, at 402 West Main in Greensburg. Snyder and McColloch were arrested and booked into the Decatur County Jail shortly after this event took place. Police subsequently found more heroin in the couple’s vehicle.

Police then obtained a search warrant from the Decatur County Superior Court which was executed Friday at 315 West Forsythe. During the search, officers discovered drug paraphernalia associated with the use of heroin and methamphetamine. Investigators also noticed several pairs of sunglasses as well as numerous electronic items in the home. Police later learned these items had been reported stolen and were allegedly obtained by Wolferst by breaking into automobiles. Law enforcement officials also seized a handgun and ammunition from the residence.

Harris is alleged to have admitted to police that he was aware of the drug transactions taking place at the residence he shared with McColloch and Wolferst.

A press release issued by the GPD Monday states none of the four suspects are currently employed in a full-time capacity, and the multiple thefts were made in order to acquire money for the purchase of drugs.

The press release further states that “the quantity of heroin brought into Greensburg was sufficient to provide multiple dosage units per person.”

Investigators said one of the transactions contained enough heroin to be distributed among approximately 20 individuals. Heroin involved in the second transaction had been purchased from a supplier in Cincinnati, Ohio.

All four suspects appeared in court Monday. Snyder, McColloch and Wolferst had cash bonds set in the amount of $10,005. Harris’ bond was set at $1,005 cash.

In an effort to reduce thefts such as those linked to this case, the GPD also offered several tips that may prove helpful in preventing vehicle break-ins. Police encourage motorists to park in well-lit areas, make sure the automobile is locked and all windows are shut, keep valuables out of sight and never leave keys in the vehicle.
