Musical gift to touch the community

Greensburg — A musical worship experience prepared by First Baptist Church of Greensburg is being presented this weekend as an early Easter gift to the community.

The musical is intended to celebrate the beginning of Holy Week. The cantata is "unique in concept, soaring in spirit, with music, drama and narration," according to representatives of the church.

The cantata uses the simple garment Jesus wore as a thematic device to recount the interaction of several people who were with Christ during his last days on Earth.

Each encounter brings to light a different aspect of His identity leading to His resurrection and victory over death, pastors from First Baptist Church said.

"It is through these personal, touching moments that our hearts are fully prepared to meet Jesus in an intimate way — a meeting that allows us to experience the healing, the glory, and the power of Christ, and rejoice in the stirring celebration of His resurrection," a press release from First Baptist states.

The public is invited invited to the Cantata, which runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Palm Sunday, March 24. A nursery will be provided for those attending with young children.

This presentation features a 30-voice choir, soloists, narrators, actors, praise band, and technical support.

First Baptist Church is located at 209 W. Washington Street. No tickets are required.

Interested parties may call 812-663-3778.
