Greensburg —
Employees of Crown Pointe Assisted Living Center, banded together to donate $678.22 and 176 pounds of food to Bread of Life Wednesday.
“I feel like it’s a very needed service in the community,” said Audrea Hope, director in training of Crown Pointe.
Hope said the Crown Pointe corporate office matched the monetary donation raised by residents. There are 27 occupied apartments, said Hope, and $339.11 was "a pretty good amount of money" to be raised by the residents.
The food items donated included flour, sugar, ground beef, and other nonperishable items.
“I feel like food donations get put on the back burner,” said Hope, comparing Bread of Life to other charities which get toy donations around the holidays.
Kim Porter, administrative assistant of Bread of Life, thanked Hope for the donation.
Bread of Life is always in need of volunteers, said Porter, especially drivers to deliver food to families in need.
