Decatur County Arts Council “cataloging” 2013

Greensburg — For 2013-2014, The Arts and Cultural Council of Decatur County (ACCDC) will publish a 40-to-50 page commercial catalog to support its event schedule for the year.

ACCDC Executive Director Bill Rethlake told the Daily News that the catalogs will be customized for each specific ACCDC event; however, the remainder of the catalog will stay constant year-round.

“We haven’t gotten to this stage yet,” Rethlake explained, “but the catalogue will have a theme or title — something pertinent to the programing.”

Rethlake described the catalog’s dimensions as five-and-a-half-inches by eight inches.

“Each page will have a spot for a half-page ad,” he said, “with a little banner separating the top of the page from the bottom. That banner will contain a vendor’s name.”

Beneath the half-page ad and the banner, Rethlake continued, there will be a spot for two one-eighths-of-a-page ads, as well a spot for a quarter-page ad.

The executive director added, “There will also be opportunities for full-sheet ads, front-, as well as back-cover ads, inside and out ads and double-page ads. These ad spaces will come with tiered pricing levels for our vendors. Pricing will be extremely reasonable — an entire year of advertising to all of Decatur County for significantly less money than the cost of three or four days of similar advertising in a magazine or other periodical or a radio spot.”

The catalogs will be handed out free-of-charge to all attendees of ACCDC events, which, at press time, currently number 12.

“Keep in mind, too,” Rethlake said, “that we only hold one event a year at our gallery. The rest are held at various locations in and around Decatur County, which further increases the advertising audience.”

Each catalog will include an event-specific program integrated into its center, according to Rethlake, meaning each catalogue will be unique to each specific event.

“The advertising part, though,” he added, “won’t change.”

Additionally, “sweetheart sponsors,” will also receive an optional spot on the ACCDC monthly, emailed newsletter, which currently includes 500 recipients and counting, Rethlake said.

Rethlake anticipates a finalized “dummy” for prospective advertisers to peruse to be completed by Jan. 22.

He predicts all the ads will be sold, the event schedule finalized and the catalogs ready for use sometime in April.

“We’ll use these from April 2013 to April 2014,” he said.
