Lady Chargers fall to Lawrenceburg

Lawrenceburg — The North Decatur girls basketball team fell to host Lawrenceburg 51-35 Thursday night.

Lawrenceburg led after every quarter break, including 13-7 after the first eight minutes. The Tigers held a 22-17 lead at halftime and pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 16-8 edge.

The Lady Chargers fall to 3-5 on the season.

Senior Jenna Meyer led North in scoring with 11 points. Junior Alison Wallpe followed with six points, while freshman Mary Hughes scored five. Juniors Anna Wallpe and Andrea Volk each scored four, junior Myra Steele added three and junior Emma Geis chipped in two.

North shot 14-for-23 from the free throw line. Alison Wallpe shot 4-for-4, Hughes shot 3-for-4, and Geis and Anna Wallpe each shot 2-for-2.

The North junior varsity team lost 29-23 in the first game. The teams tied each other at 4 apiece after the first quarter, but the hosts went on a 12-4 run into the half to take a 16-8 advantage. North’s 10-5 fourth-quarter scoring edge was not enough to overcome the deficit.

Sam Krieger led her team with nine points, while Alison Wallpe scored eight. Adding two apiece were Laura Haunert, Megan Hoover and Morgan McKinney.

The JV Lady Chargers shot 5-for-9 from the foul line.

North hosts Jac-Cen-Del Tuesday night.
