Pirates beat host Tigers 79-47

Lawrenceburg — The Greensburg boys basketball team improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference with a 79-47 win over hosting Lawrenceburg Friday.

The Pirates jumped out to a quick start, leading 22-6 after the first quarter. Head coach Stacy Meyer was pleased with his team’s ability to claim the big lead and build on it consistently.

Eight different players scored for Greensburg. Juniors Sean Sellers and Bryant McIntosh matched each other point for point, each leading the Pirates with 19 points. Sophomore Ryan Welage followed with 17 points.

Junior Collin Rigney scored eight points, including two 3-pointers. Junior Macy Holdsworth added a pair of triples for six points, while junior Tom Lawrence also scored six points (one trey).

Seniors Shane Ploeger and Riley Billieu each chipped in two points off the bench.

Greensburg shot 14-for-18 (78 percent) from the foul line and made seven treys.

Meyer said he was also pleased with the defensive side of the Pirates’ game.

“We had a full team defensive effort, especially in the first half,” he said. “We also did a nice job rebounding.”

The Greensburg junior varsity team won the first game 49-41, according to Meyer.
