Milan —
The South Decatur football held its own against Milan, ranked in the Class 1A coaches poll throughout the season, until the hosting Indians eventually held on for a 35-26 win Friday.
The Cougars trailed Milan in the first half before the game was delayed. South trailed 21-6, but cut into the Indians lead before fog forced a delay in action caused by halftime fireworks.
South is now 3-4 on the season, while Milan is 4-3.
The Cougars will host North Decatur next week for the annual Civil War battle and bragging rights for the traveling bucket trophy.
