The Greensburg boys soccer team bowed out of the state tournament Saturday after falling to Covenant Christian 3-0 in the Floyd Central Semi-State.
The Class 1A, 17th-ranked Pirates trailed the sixth-ranked Warriors 1-0 at halftime. Jon Christenson scored at the 2:10 mark of the first half to take the lead.
The Warriors, which eliminated Washington 2-1 for the Greencastle Regional crown, tallied a pair of goals just 10 minutes into the second half. Christenson made it 2-0, and Keaton Joseph added another goal just minutes later.
The Pirates attempted just one corner kick on the day, off the foot of senior Tyler Burcham just off its mark.
Greensburg concludes its season with a 14-7 record, a fall campaign that included the school’s first ever soccer sectional championship. The Pirates tied a school record for overall victories in a season, while capturing Greensburg’s first regional title.
