Decatur County sports digest announcements for Feb. 26

Greensburg — Posted below are the Decatur County sports digest announcements for Feb. 26.



SCHEDULE - BOYS SECTIONALS

Tuesday

North boys vs S-western Hanover at S. Ripley, 6 p.m.

Wednesday

GB boys vs S. Dearborn at GB, 6 p.m.



Pirate 7A girls finish unbeaten

The Greensburg 7A girls basketball team finished its regular season with an undefeated, 13-0 mark after a 41-10 win over Batesville Thursday.

Although Bailey Meyer was out sick for the game, the team adjusted well. The Lady Pirates played strong defense throughout the entire game.

The leading scorer was Kyra Whitaker with 13 points and 8 steals. Sierra Johnson scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Keirsten Lynette had 6 points and 4 rebounds, while Ashlynn Meyer had 4 points and 5 rebounds. Cameron Jones added 3 points and 3 steals, while Ashley Bower and Gracie Maxwell chipped in 2 points each.  

The 7A Lady Pirates will finish their season March 2 when they travel to Greenfield Central High School and play in a 4-way tournament.



GYBL signups underway

Signups are set for the Greensburg Youth Baseball League. Signups began Feb. 23 and will last through March 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The league will conduct signups on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 26 through March 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Signups will take place at the Decatur County Parks Department. Registrations are availabe at signup or at the Parks Department.



Columbus Explosion tryouts next week

Columbus Explosion will be having try-outs for girls high school and boys ninth grade basketball travel teams on Tuesday and Thursday, March 5 and 7, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Northside Middle School, Columbus, Ind.

Columbus Boomer tryouts offered

The Columbus Boomers will be having tryouts for their Spring girls AAU season. It will be at the Foundation For Youth on Feb. 26 and 27.

On Tuesday, Feb. 26, Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be from 5:30-7 p.m. On Wednesday, Feb. 27, Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be from 5:30-7 p.m., and grades 7 and 8 will be from 7-8:30 p.m.
