Pirates fall to visiting Trojans

Greensburg — The Greensburg football team missed a chance to take possession of the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference driver's seat with a 16-0 setback to visiting East Central Friday night.

East Central led just 6-0 as rain and wind chilled any plans for a high-scoring game. The Pirates held the Trojans to its lowest scoring output of the season, a defensive effort that began with a goal-line stand in the first quarter. Senior Brice Emsweller pushed a ballcarrier backward to force a turnover on downs, giving Greensburg the ball at its own 1.

However, the Pirates were unable to cut into the Trojan lead.

Greensburg is now 6-2 on the season and 3-2 in the EIAC, while East Central is 7-1 (5-0).

The Pirates visit North Decatur next Friday to conclude the regular season.
