Schedule- Boys Sectionals
GB boys vs S. Dearborn at GB, 6 p.m.
Pirate 7B girls finish 7-2
The Greensburg girls 7B basketball team defeated South Dearborn 33-19 Monday night.
Gracie Maxwell scored a team-high 12 points. Ashley Bower followed with nine points and Emma Hellmich scored six. Kirstin Hersley had four points and Taylor Klene chipped in two.
Hersley led the defense with six steals and three blocked shots.
The Pirate 7B girls end the season with a 7-2 record.
“Congratulations to all the 7B players!” noted coach Nicole Mintern.
North 8th girls win MHC opener
The North Decatur eighth grade girls basketball team traveled to Morristown Monday for the first-round game of the MHC tournament.
The Lady Chargers faced the host Morristown team and came home with a 36-15 win.
Chelsea Hitchcock finished the night with 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
Olivia Siefert tallied 10 points eight rebounds and three steals. Addy Osting and Ally Gauck each finished with four points. Emily McCorkle and Meredith Fogle added two.
Finishing the scoring for the young Lady Chargers was Casey Ogden with one point. Mariah Lozier grabbed six rebounds and four steals. Laury Wysong came of the bench and finished with four rebounds and three steals. Stasha Caudill chipped in two steals for the Chargers.
Pirate 8A girls win 43-10
The Greensburg girls 8A basketball team defeated host South Dearborn 43-10.
Samantha Cain led the Lady Pirates with nine points.
Total scoring: Gabby Burton 8, Sydney Meyer 8, Claire Fleetwood 6, Haleigh Reed 5, Allie Reisman 4, Michaela Myers 3.
“The girls played great,” noted coach Amy McFall. “It was a full team play and win.”
GYBL signups underway
Signups are set for the Greensburg Youth Baseball League. Signups will last through March 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The league will conduct signups on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 26 through March 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Signups will take place at the Decatur County Parks Department. Registrations are availabe at signup or at the Parks Department.
Columbus Explosion tryouts next week
Columbus Explosion will be having try-outs for girls high school and boys ninth grade basketball travel teams on Tuesday and Thursday, March 5 and 7, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Northside Middle School, Columbus, Ind.
