Decatur County sports digest announcements for Feb. 23

Greensburg — Posted below are the Decatur County sports digest announcmeents for Feb. 23.



North 7th girls split last two

The North Decatur seventh grade girls basketball team split their past two games.

The young Lady Chargers fell to Triton last Thursday, 32-15.

Rhegan Day led her team with five points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Emily Daugherty added four points and five steals, while Paige Howell, Zoe Peters, and Kiara Nobbe each scored two points.

North hosted and defeated Waldron 39-13 Monday.

Paige Howell led all scorers with 10 points 13 rebounds. Rhegan Day tallied nine points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots. Sarah Bohman turned in her best game to date, recording eight points, 11 rebounds and six steals. Emily Daugherty added six points and three steals. Jesse Closser, Kiara Nobbe and Lilly Meyer all scored two points each.

North’s scheduled game against South Decatur Thursday was postponed and a makeup date was not set yet.



GYBL signups underway

Signups are set for the Greensburg Youth Baseball League. Signups will take place Saturdays beginning Feb. 23 through March 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The league will conduct signups on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 26 through March 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Signups will take place at the Decatur County Parks Department. Registrations are availabe at signup or at the Parks Department.



Columbus Boomer tryouts offered

The Columbus Boomers will be having tryouts for their Spring girls AAU season. It will be at the Foundation For Youth on Feb. 26 and 27.

On Tuesday, Feb. 26, Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be from 5:30-7 p.m. On Wednesday, Feb. 27, Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be from 5:30-7 p.m., and grades 7 and 8 will be from 7-8:30 p.m.

Parks and Rec offers swimming

The Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department is offering open swimming at the Greensburg Community High School. The pool will be open, free of charge, on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. continuing through Sunday, March 10. Non-swimmers under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
