The South Decatur boys basketball team fell to host Knightstown 59-44 Friday.
South finishes the season with a 14-6 record, the Cougars’ most regular-season wins in 17 seasons. South won 17 games during the 1995-96 season.
South trailed 10-7 after the first eight minutes, but took a one-point lead, 27-26, into halftime.
The Cougars expanded their lead in the third quarter and enjoyed a 40-33 advantage after the third stop. However, the Panthers came from behind in the fourth quarter to prevail.
Senior Byron Balser led South with 14 points. Junior Taylor Kopplin followed with 11, while senior Cameron Agnew was held to seven. Senior Jordan Hatton added six, senior Josh Miller scored four and junior Andrew Wullenweber chipped in two.
The Cougars host the Sectional 60 tournament this week. South plays the winner of Tuesday’s game between Shawe Memorial and Oldenburg Academy, Friday at 7:30 p.m.
