Greensburg — Pictured are the 2009 award winners of the North Decatur football programs. The Chargers honored the award winners at a team banquet Monday night in the North school cafeteria.
Desserts were served before the awards were announced.
At the junior high level, the most improved players are seventh grader Lane Geis and eighth grader Dustin Westerfeld. The mental attitude award winners are seventh grader Kyle Fogle and eighth grader Jared Bedel.
At the varsity level, the team most valuable player is Chad Bedel. The most improved player is Zach Westerfeld. The outstanding offensive lineman award went to Wayne Speer. The outstanding defensive lineman is Matt Holland. Eric Lusk was named outstanding wide receiver, while Chris Murray earned outstanding linebacker. The outstanding offensive back award went to Dirk Ricke, while the outstanding defensive back is Thomas Speer. The mental attitude award winner is Camrin Tipton.
Making the All Mid Indiana Football Conference team are Chad Bedel and Dirk Ricke.
Also pictured are Scholastic All Stars with the highest G.P.A. in their classes, receiving a plaque at the banquet.
Sixty percent of the football student athletes achieved the Scholastic All Star honor, according to head coach Jim Louder. The freshman class academic performance, he noted, consisted of four freshmen achieving a perfect 4.00 G.P.A.

Juniors: Jacob Mays;
Seniors: Mark Lewellyn.
The 2009 Iron Man award winners, who demonstrated dedication and commitment to the team with their work in preparation for and during the season, and their commitment and work ethic in the weight room as well as on the field, according to Louder, also were honored.
