The Greensburg 7A boys basketball team traveled to Ben-Rush for tourney action against Shelbyville with a season-ending 58-23 loss. The Pirates scored the first basket of game on a 3-pointer by Kyle Sellers, but Shelbyville’s defense frustrated the young Pirates from then on. The first quarter ended with the Bears on top 14-6. The turning point of the game was a trey by Shelby as the half ended 23-14.
Instead of trailing by six, the Pirates found themselves down by nine going into the third period. The Bears then made an 8-0 run early in the third and led 40-17 as the period ended.
Kyle Sellers had 12 points to lead the Pirates, followed by Cody Bischoff with five points and three rebounds. Luke Lozier was held to three points and pulled down five boards. Tucker Bailey had two, and Nick Heil had one free throw and two rebounds.
Greensburg finished a good season with a 9-6 mark.
“I certainly enjoyed working with this groups of kids,” said coach Bob Barker. “Their effort all year was great. This was a fun group to coach.”
