Pirate eighth grade girls open season

The Greensburg eighth grade girls basketball team opened the season with a 30-18 loss to Connersville Thursday night.

The Pirates came out in the first half and played tough, taking a lead into halftime. Coach Amy McFall, though, said the team could not make a shot in the second half.

Leading the Pirates was Claire Fleetwood with six points, Sydney Meyer with five points, Samantha Cain with four, and Gabby Burton with three.

The Lady Pirate 8B team fell 23-22 in another tough game. The Pirates led most of the game, but the Lady Spartans pulled ahead at the end.

Allie Reisman and Meghann Kress each led Greensburg with six points. Callie Black followed with four, while Hallie Burton, Haleigh Reed and Holly Denney each added two.
