The North Decatur boys travel basketball team completed the season by winning the 2010 North Decatur Invitational Sixth Grade tournament.
The Chargers defeated Morristown in the opening game and went on to beat Connersville to claim the championship.
The victory completes the travel season for the Chargers that saw them accumulate a 15-5 record, playing a competitive schedule against many larger schools.
This season marks a conclusion to four years of elementary school travel basketball for this group of nine - sixth graders. They accumulated a record of 66-27, a 71 percent winning percentage over the past four years. During that time period, North defeated 32 teams from North, Central and Southern Indiana.
The team has also realized a good deal of tourney success. In 16 tourneys entered, this group has competed in the championship game in 12 of those tourneys, winning seven of them.
Other highlights include 2008 USSFA Regional Runner Up, 2009 USSFA Regional Champions and 2009 USSFA State Runner Up for 1A and 2A schools.
Team members for the sixth grade group (including travel ball experience) are: Andrew Hocker (4), Derek Hocker (4), Dayne Lecher (4), Evan Wallpe (4), Donovan Meyer (4), Luke Badgley (4), Devon Murray (4), Arek Holloway (3) and Landon Crites (3).
