The South Decatur football team improved to 3-3 with a 39-34 comeback win over Park Tudor. The host Cougars trailed on multiple occasions in a game that was delayed because of lightning.
Junior Chris Johannigman completed 24 of 40 passes for 420 yards and four touchdowns, including a 93-yard strike to senior Byron Balser. Leading the team in receiving, Balser caught 12 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Matthew Gatewood caught six passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. Gatewood also ran for a score.
Senior Bryce French added a rushing touchdown for the Cougars.
Junior Logan Speer led South defensively, collecting 12 tackles (11 solo). Senior Bryce Moore recorded eight tackles, while Balser and senior Ben Tichenor each added six tackles.
Balser and Gatewood each tallied an interception.
