Decatur County sports digest announcements for Oct. 16

Posted below are the Decatur County sports digest announcements for Oct. 16.



Pirate soccer pep rally Thursday
Greensburg High School will host a Pep Rally for the Pirate boys soccer team Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gym to support the Semi-State bound Pirates.
 
Volleyball sectional matchups set

The IHSAA girls volleyball tournament pairings have been announced.

Greensburg will play host Batesville Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Class 3A Batesville Sectional 29 tournament at 7 p.m. The winner will play Madison in the sectional semifinal Saturday at 11 a.m.

North Decatur will play Southwestern (Hanover) Thursday, Oct. 18 in the Class 2A South Ripley Sectional 45 tournament at 7:30 p.m.

South Decatur will play Shawe Memorial Thursday, Oct. 18 in the Class 1A Hauser Sectional 60.

Football sectional draws set

The IHSAA Sectional Football Tournament pairings are set.

Greensburg travels to Brown County in the first round of the Class 3A sectional. Batesville faces Edgewood. The winners will meet in second round.

North Decatur visits Springs Valley in the Class 1A Sectional. Milan faces Edinburgh. The winners will play in the second round.

South Decatur will play the winner of the first-round Class 1A game between Indianapolis Lutheran and West Washington, on the road.




YMCA extends Youth Basketball registration

The Decatur County Family YMCA has extended its registration for its Kindergarten through fifth-grade Basketball Leagues to Saturday, Oct. 20. League fees are $40 for Y members and $60 for non-members, but no family will be turned away from this program for the inability to pay because of our scholarship program. YMCA building hours can be found on their website at www.decaturcountyfamilyymca.org. The first practice for all basketball teams will be on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 27.
