The South Decatur girls basketball team improved to 6-13 on the season with a 70-36 win over host Milan Tuesday.
Four different girls scored in double-figures for South. Junior Julia Miller led all scorers with 22 points, and added eight rebounds. Megan Niese added 15 points and four steals. Ashley Johannigman followed with 11 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, while senior Sam Miller added 12 points and seven steals.
Scoring five points apiece were sophomore Olivia Watkins and freshman Jessica Hearld. Watkins added four rebounds and Hearld chipped in two.
South shot 20-for-34 from the foul line. Sam Miller shot 12-for-14 to lead her team, while Niese shot 3-for-4 from the line. Niese added six rebounds and five assists.
Junior Courtney Billingsley chipped in three rebounds and a steal.
The Lady Cougars next open postseason play in the Jac-Cen-Del Sectional 60 tournament in Osgood. South plays Oldenburg Academy Tuesday, Feb. 5, with a tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
