Pirate 7A boys beat St. Louis
The Greensburg 7A boys basketball team hosted St. Louis for a 60-20 victory. The Pirates jumped out to an early lead 22-4 the opening quarter and never trailed. Luke Lozier had 18 points, six boards and three steals to pace the Pirates. Cody Bischoff 9pts., Nick Heil 8pts. and Brayton Owens 7pts. were all season highs for a nice effort. Tucker Bailey and Kyle Sellers each with seven points and two assists. Gabe Caplinger and Keven Smith chipped in two points and had three steals. Owens led in steals with four and pulled down five boards. The Pirates are now 7-4 on the season and will travel to Waldron Tuesday for a 5:30 start.
North JH boys split Jackets
The North Decatur junior high boys basketball teams split a pair of games against Morristown.
The eighth graders beat the Yellow Jackets 26-24. The Chargers led at every quarter stop, including 10-8 at halftime and 19-15 after three quarters.
Ben Kinker led North with 12 points, while Ian Schmid followed with eight. Nick Moorman and Kyle Kramer each added three.
North improves to 4-6 on the season.
The seventh grade Chargers fell 45-27, despite leading 11-4 after the first quarter. The Jackets outscored North 29-11 in the second half.
Cole Parmer scored 13 points to lead North Evan Smith followed with 10, while Caleb Stapp and Matthew Borgman each added two.
North, now 6-4, shot just 3-for-10 from the foul line while Morristown made a perfect 11-for-11.
Open gym at GCHS fieldhouse
The Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department is offering open gym at the GCHS Fieldhouse on Sundays from 2 to 9 p.m. Take advantage of this opportunity to play basketball, volleyball or walk on the indoor track, offered free of charge by the Parks and Recreation Department.
YMCA sports cheerleading extended
The Decatur County Family YMCA has extended its registration for the sports cheerleading program. The deadline for the sports cheerleading program (ages 5-9) will be extended to Jan. 19. Interested families can sign up their youth at the Y and building hours can be found on their Web site, which is www.decaturcountyfamilyymca.org. The Y does not turn away community members for inability to pay and scholarships are available.

Rushville traveled to Decatur County and gave the Greensburg varsity softball team its best shot in the Greensburg Sectional 29 semifinal Wednesday night.

Lady Chargers bumped in extra innings
The North Decatur varsity softball team exited the postseason earlier than most had expected them to. The Lady Chargers fell to Milan 12-11 in an eight-inning slugfest.
