The Greensburg boys basketball team defeated Indian Creek 79-62 Friday on the road, improving to 9-0 for the second straight season.
The visiting Pirates jumped out to an early 15-3 lead on the strength of a trio of 3-pointers, including two by junior Macy Holdsworth. The Pirates expanded the lead to 20-7 until the Braves closed it to 21-14 after the first quarter, then held on for the win.
Greensburg junior Sean Sellers, who is approaching a career milestone, led the Pirates with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Sellers is 22 points away from 1,000 for his career.
Junior Bryant McIntosh followed with 16 points, while sophomore Ryan Welage dished in 10. Holdsworth scored nine points, junior Collin Rigney tallied eight and senior Shane Ploeger added five. Senior Tyler Burcham returned after missing the Hauser game with a wrist injury, adding four points. Senior Riley Billieu chipped in one.
Indian Creek fell to 6-2 on the season.
The Greensburg junior varsity basketball team improved to 7-2 with a 53-20 win over the JV Braves.
Unofficially, Tye Fleetwood scored 13 points. Kevin Beaver added 11 points, while Josiah Buell scored eight. Tom Lawrence recorded seven points, Bryce Bennett scored four and Brad Wilson chipped in two.
Greensburg next plays Shelbyville and Connersville this Friday and Saturday, both at home.
