Greensburg freshman Shelby Pake won the girls 3200-meter race Saturday at the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference meet, marking the Pirates’ lone winner.
“Shelby Pake was the lone individual winner, but the team had many outstanding performances in their first meet of the season,” said Greensburg coach Mike Myers.
Freshman Taylor McIntosh tallied three top-five finishes during the meet, and the girls 7-7-6 sprint medley relay team took fourth place to highlight Saturday’s action for the Lady Pirates. Freshman Kasey Moeller also took a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash. The Lady Pirates also excelled in field events as senior Emilee Keith and junior Mary Kamman placed third and sixth, respectively.
Highlighting the field action for the Greensburg boys, seniors Peter Myers and Colin Evans finished third and fourth, respectively, in the shot put.
Pake won the 3200-meter run with a time of 12 minutes, 46.01 seconds, nearly a minute faster than second-place Ashley Harnishfeger of Franklin County.
McIntosh tied for second in the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.95 seconds. The winner clocked a time of 7.92 seconds.
Moeller took second in the 200 dash in 29.98.
Keith took third in the shot put with a mark of 31-9.75, and Kamman was sixth with a mark of 30-06.25. Freshman Erica Six took 19th with a 21-09.
McIntosh’s fifth-place finishes were in the high jump with a mark of four feet, eight inches, and 1.37 meters.
The 7-7-6 spring medley relay team of freshmen Kasey Moeller and McKella Lynette, senior Ashton Lunsford and sophomore Cara Zeigler, took fourth in 2:04.47.

Zeigler: 31st- 200-m dash, 33.27.
Lunsford: 33rd- 55 dash, 8.92; 34th- 200-m dash, 34.01.
Myers leads Pirate boys in shot put
For the boys, Myers tallied a team-high placing of third with a mark of 40-05. Evans took fourth with a mark of 40-03.25. Sophomore Nathan Hayes was ninth with a mark of 37-02, and junior Logan Combs was 13th with a 34-09.75.
The boys 4x800 meter relay team of senior Chase McCreary, freshman Alex Martinez, sophomore Johnathan Richards and freshman Michael Back, finished seventh in a time of 10:13.98. Also placing seventh was the boys 4x400 meter relay team of McCreary, Martinez, senior Ethan Amburgey and sophomore Cody McConnell in 4:14.
McConnell took sixth in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.76 seconds. He also took sixth in the long jump (15-08.25).
Michael Black placed fourth in the 3200-meter run in 12:37.04.
