Greensburg —
The South Decatur boys basketball team found a way to seize a win on the road and improve to 4-0 Saturday night.
South senior Byron Balser converted a three-point play with less than a second left against Rising Sun, and the Cougars secured a 58-55 road victory.
The Cougars led most of the game until the Shiners made a run in the fourth quarter. The hosts, a potential sectional opponent for South, claimed a six-point lead.
South fought back and Rising Sun found itself in a tie game with 10 seconds left.
Balser went to the hoop and scored with two-tenths of a second left to play, and converted on the free throw after getting fouled on the score.
Balser, the leading scorer in Decatur County boys basketball, tallied a game-high 22 points. Senior Cameron Agnew scored in double figures with 13, while junior Taylor Kopplin scored nine. Senior Josh Miller scored eight, junior Chris Johannigman added five and senior Jordan Hatton chipped in one.
The South junior varsity team fell to Rising Sun 42-20.
