Greensburg —
The Greensburg Daily News male co-athletes of the week are Greensburg freshman Collin Rigney and South Decatur senior Blake Moore.
Blake Moore
South Decatur Senior Fullback/Linebacker
South Decatur senior Blake Moore has been a heavy force in the Cougars' perfect start to the season.
Moore, listed as a 5-foot-9, 185-pound fullback and linebacker on South's undefeated roster, was a key factor in the Cougars' 36-8 win over a Class 4A Indianapolis Broad Ripple team.
When the score was still in doubt, Moore stepped into the battle of the special teams and recovered a blocked field goal just after senior Jeremy Beesley got his hand on the ball.
Moore ran for a 22-yard touchdown to give South a 29-8 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Helping lead the defense as he has all season, Moore stood out on this particular night. He made 11 tackles overall, besides running eight times for 39 yards and the touchdown.
Head coach Rodney Martin said Moore was a catalyst for the Cougars, noting that he "had an outstanding game on defense" and "stepped up big on offense" in a team win.
Collin Rigney
Greensburg Freshman No. 1 Singles Player
Greensburg freshman Collin Rigney, who patrols the first singles position for the Pirate boys tennis team this fall, has held his own on the court.
Rigney has been a consistent force against his first seven opponents, and his role has most benefited the Pirates this week.
The Greensburg tennis team will wrap up its busiest week of the season at the Shelbyville Invitational after three straight dual matches this week.
The Pirates went 2-1 in them, while Rigney posted a 3-0 record.
He won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 at Shelbyville Tuesday, topped conference rival Gideon Loveland of South Dearborn 6-0, 6-0, and blanked Drew Simmermeyer 6-0, 6-0 Thursday in Greensburg's 5-0 win over Franklin County.
Rigney runs his season record to 7-0 heading into his second contest against Shelbyville Saturday.
For showing he belongs on the Pirate tennis team as a freshman and going unbeaten in the first two weeks of his career, Collin Rigney is this week's male co-athlete of the week.
