Greensburg —
The Greensburg Pirate wrestlers were defeated by East Central 65-9 on the Trojans’ Senior Night. Joel Chase won a close 13-9 decision over Jake Salatin in a rematch of last year’s EIAC championship.
Drew Neisius improved to a 9-1 record with a first period pin over East Central’s Busse.
“The score does not reflect the effort given by our team,” said Pirate head coach Matt Cochran. “We had some young guys inserted into the line-up due to illness and the boys gave an honest effort. We just have to get better. We are planning on having a full line this weekend at the Columbus East Invitational and we are looking forward to this tournament.”
The Columbus East Invitational is an individual tournament. Wrestling will begin at 9 a.m. The Pirates have three wrestlers seeded: Colten Black, Drew Neisius, and Matt Scheumann.
The next dual meet for the Pirates will be Tuesday against Jennings County at the Greensburg Fieldhouse.
