Pirate boys dominate Eagles 80-29

Pirates get 11 into scoring column

Osgood — The Greensburg boys basketball team improved to 16-1 on the season with an 80-29 defensive dominance over Jac-Cen-Del Saturday night.

The Pirates jumped out to a 23-6 lead after the first eight minutes and took a 49-14 advantage into halftime.

Head coach Stacy Meyer maximized the production out of not only the roster, but also the bench as all 11 varsity players scored.

Sophomore Ryan Welage led all scorers with 18 points. Junior Sean Sellers followed with 17 points, while junior Bryant McIntosh chipped in 12 to round out the double-digit scoring. Junior Collin Rigney scored eight points. Senior Shane Ploeger and juniors Macy Holdsworth and Tye Fleetwood each scored five. Senior Riley Billieu followed with four, while senior Tyler Burcham, junior Tom Lawrence and junior Brad Wilson chipped in two apiece.

Jac-Cen-Del fell to 4-11 on the season.

The Greensburg junior varsity team defeated Jac-Cen-Del in the first game.

Nine different Pirates scored for the visiting team. Junior Tye Fleetwood scored a team-high 14 points as the lone double-digit scorer for the Pirates. Josiah Buell scored eight and Bryce Bennett followed with seven, while junior Brad Wilson scored six. Drew Foster tallied five points and junior Tom Lawrence scored four. Chipping in two apiece for the JV Pirates were Kevin Beaver, Cody Bausback and AJ Nobbe.

The second-ranked Pirates next travel to Franklin County for a conference game Thursday. Greensburg will honor the team’s three seniors Friday, Feb. 15.
