Greensburg offers elementary wrestling program

Greensburg — Greensburg Community Schools will be offering an elementary wrestling program to students in the Greensburg Elementary School, as well as students who attend elementary school in Greensburg.  Greensburg Community Schools have had an elementary wrestling program for several years.

All wrestling practices and competition will be conducted at the Greensburg Jr High School. The Greensburg elementary wrestling program will last for six weeks, beginning with the first practice on Tuesday Feb. 5 and culminating with the awards banquet on Friday, March 15. The season will end before spring break.

The registration fee is $20.

Two divisions will be offered - the junior division (grades three and below), and the senior division (grades four and five).

The boys/girls will be divided within their division, by weight.

The number of teams will be determined by the number of boys/girls in the program. Please let us know if you are interested in learning more about travel wrestling when registering your child.  This is an opportunity for your child to wrestle other children in the same age division and weight class from around the state.

Registration will take place Tuesday, Jan. 15 and Thursday, Jan. 17 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. both days at Greensburg Jr. High School, entering door #2 by the circle drive.

Younger wrestlers can participate with parental consent.

If you would like to help coach a team or lend your assistance in some other manner, or if you have questions about the program, please contact Jamie Cain at 317-354-3737 or email at jcain@covantaenergy.com. Jamie Cain will serve as director of the Elementary Wrestling Program.
