Open gym at GCHS fieldhouse
The Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department is offering open gym at the GCHS Fieldhouse on Sundays from 2 to 9 p.m. Take advantage of this opportunity to play basketball, volleyball or walk on the indoor track. This is being offered free of charge by the Parks and Recreation Department.
YMCA youth basketball extended
The Decatur County Family YMCA has extended its registration for its Kindergarten-through-sixth grade youth basketball leagues (K-1, 2-3, 4-6 Age Divisions) to this Saturday, Jan. 12.
The deadline for the sports cheerleading program (ages 5-9) will be extended to Jan. 19. Interested families can sign up their youth at the Y and building hours can be found on their Web site, which is www.decaturcountyfamilyymca.org. For more details about the league, please contact Ryan Gelhaus at (812)663-9622 or ryang@dcfymca.org.
The Y does not turn away community members for inability to pay and scholarships are available.
North girls vs Franklin County postponed
The North Decatur girls varsity and junior varsity games against Franklin County, originally scheduled Friday, Dec. 28, have been postponed due to the weather. A makeup date has not yet been announced.
