Greensburg's seventh grade girls ‘B’ team got their first win Monday night at Rushville, 16-13.
The Young Lady Pirates had the lead just 4-2 at halftime and held on the whole game.
Greensburg coach Andi McKee said Rushville pulled to within one late in the fourth, but Abbey Denton stepped up to hit two huge free throws to seal the deal, and the defense took care of the rest.
"The girls had me scared for a quick moment, but the girls were determined to get the win and fought hard on both ends of the floor all night," said McKee.
Cara Zeigler led the way in scoring with six points and six rebounds. Molly Redmon had another great game scoring four, pulling down five boards, five steals and two blocked shots.
Sydney Reynolds, Abbey Denton and Chelsea Hersley all scored two each.
The Young Lady Pirates are now 1-2 on the season and take on Jennings County on Thursday.
