The Greensburg eighth grade girls basketball team wrapped up its season this past week with three games.
The junior high Pirates played against South Dearborn and lost 29-12 Monday, March 1. Leading the way for the Pirates was Hayley Harderman with six points, Clare Welage added four points and Sydney Wettering chipped in one.
The Pirates faced off against Connersville Tuesday, March 2 and lost 26-19. Leading the way for the Pirates was Harderman with 10 points and then Ally Phillips knocked down four points. Katie Bennett chipped in with three points and Allison Hamilton added two.
The Pirates traveled to Shelbyville and competed in the 4-Way Tournement Saturday against Greenfield Central, losing 35-18. Leading the Pirates was JoAnna Redelman with nine points, Harderman added seven and Allison Hamilton chipped in with two.
“The girls, from day one of practice till now, have improved 100 percent fundamentally on the Big 4 - dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense,” said coach Chad Evans. “I would like to thank the girls for coming and working hard in practice to improve their basketball skills, and their parents for all the support they gave the girls and coaching staff through the season.”
