Charger boys win 62-52

The North Decatur boys basketball team rallied back for a 62-52 win over host Eastern Hancock Tuesday. The Chargers improve to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-Hoosier Conference, while Eastern Hancock is also 2-5 (1-2).

North senior John Hammersmith led his team with a career-high 29 points.

Ticket sales set for Holiday Showcase

The North Decatur boys varsity basketball game originally scheduled to be played Saturday, Jan. 12 has been moved up to Saturday, Dec. 29. The Chargers were invited to participate in the New Castle Holiday Showcase in Chrysler Fieldhouse.

The double-header showcase will feature two sessions of high school basketball. The Chargers will play in session 2 against Lawrenceburg at 6 p.m. The New Castle boys will play Elkhart Central at 8 p.m.

Chrysler Fieldhouse is the largest high school basketball gym in the United States, with more than 9,300 seats that can expand to 10,000 with the addition of temporary bleachers.

Session 1 includes two girls basketball games. Yorktown will play Winchester at 11 a.m., and New Castle will play Jay County at 1 p.m.

Tickets will be available at North Decatur High School through Wednesday (today) from 8 a.m. to 3:30 pm. The cost for pre-sale tickets will be $5 and tickets will cost $6 at the door on the day of the game.



South boys at Bankers Life Jan. 3

The South Decatur boys basketball team will be playing Indian Creek in the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Challenge on Jan. 3 at noon. The game was originally scheduled for Jan. 5. The game is set to start at noon.

Tickets will go on sale Dec. 13, 14, 17 and 18 at South Decatur High School. Tickets for adults are $10. Tickets for second through eighth graders are $8. Tickets bought at Bankers Life will cost $12. All seats are general admission.
