Greensburg —
The North Decatur boys varsity basketball game originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, Jan. 12 has been changed to Saturday, Dec. 29. The Chargers were invited to participate in the New Castle Holiday Showcase in Chrysler Fieldhouse.
The double-header showcase will feature two sessions of high school basketball. The Chargers will play in session 2 against Lawrenceburg at 6 p.m. The New Castle boys will play Elkhart Central at 8 p.m.
Chrysler Fieldhouse is the largest high school basketball gym in the United States, with more than 9,300 seats that can expand to 10,000 with the addition of temporary bleachers.
North head coach Kyle Nobbe said the coaches and players are pleased to be invited and look forward to the opportunity.
“We’re excited about it,” he said. “It gives our kids a chance to play in a historical setting at New Castle, and it can be something exciting for our fans and our community.”
Session 1 includes two girls basketball games. Yorktown will play Winchester at 11 a.m., and New Castle will play Jay County at 1 p.m.
Presale tickets will be available at North Decatur High School for $5, through Wednesday, during regular school hours. Tickets at the door will be $6 on gameday.
