Keselowski seeks first NASCAR title in finale

Brad Keselowski enters Sunday's NASCAR season finale – the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead/Miami Speedway - 20 points ahead of five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champ Jimmie Johnson.

If Keselowski can hold off NASCAR's most dominant driver in the sport's most well financed race car and team, the Michigan native will not only capture his first Sprint Cup Title, but also the first NASCAR championship for owner Roger Penske.

Johnson went into last Sunday's race at Phoenix with a seven-point lead, and the momentum to win his sixth Cup title.

But, like Yogi Berra's famous sports saying, "It ain't over till it's over!" definitely put Johnson's sixth title hopes on hold as a blown tire put his #48 machine into the wall. Johnson's wreck and 32nd-place finish, combined with Keselowski's sixth place finish, erased Johnson's Chase points lead and put him 20 points behind going into Sunday's finale at Homestead/Miami.

For Keselowski, the championship math is fairly simple. His 20-point lead is fairly substantial. Keselowski can win the 2012 Cup Title if he finishes 15th or better or 16th if he leads a lap or 17th if he leads the most laps regardless of what Johnson does. Johnson, of course, needs to win and have Keselowski to have trouble like he did at Phoenix to have a chance.

So, 400 competitive miles of racing lies between Keselowski and his first NASCAR Sprint Cup title. He has to be an odds on favorite heading into Sunday's Ford EcoBoost 400, but as so often happens Berra's sports cliché, 'It ain't over till it's over!' often upsets best laid plans.

Tune in for the season ending drama from Homestead/Miami Speedway - because anything can, and often does, happen in motor sports!
