The North Decatur girls basketball team improved to 11-7 on the season with a 33-25 win over visiting Franklin County Thursday.
The Lady Chargers have won four straight games, five of its last six, and eight of 10.
Every shot mattered for North against the best defensive team it faced this season. North led just 12-10 at halftime after a 7-4 first-quarter edge. North pulled away with a 10-4 run in the third quarter.
Senior Jenna Meyer led all scorers with 16 points, including six free throws. Anna Wallpe followed with six points, and Abby Lamb scored five and a 3-pointer. Freshman Mary Hughes added her own 3-ball, while senior Veronica Yager scored two points and junior Andrea Volk chipped in one.
The North junior varsity squad won the first game 29-27 on the strength of a 12-4 fourth-quarter run. Alison Wallpe led North with 18 points, including seven free throws in the fourth quarter. Morgan Nobbe scored five and Laura Haunert added three. North shot 10-for-14 from the foul line.
The JV Chargers improve to 11-6 on the season.
