Lady Pirates win Miller's 100th at Greensburg

Brookville — The Greensburg varsity girls basketball team defeated host Franklin County Friday night 40-21, improving to 6-8 on the season and 3-5 in the conference.

The victory signaled head coach Mike Miller’s 100th win as Greensburg’s coach.

The varsity squad outscored the Lady Wildcats 18-7 in the second half on another dominating defensive effort.

Abbey Denton led Greensburg with 11 points, and Jessica Banaschak followed with 10. Taylor McIntosh (6) Joanna Redelman (5), Shelby Ward (4) and Heidi Dance (4) rounded out Greensburg’s scoring.

Head coach Mike Miller, who credited his career milestone to “coaching for a long time” and working with talented players and teams during his career, was pleased with his team’s defensive effort.

“We played really well defensively,” he said. “That was the key to the game. We did a really good job defensively.”

He also applauded the play of Banaschak and Denton.

“Jessica and Abbey both played really well.”

The junior varsity Lady Pirates won 32-28. Megan Schmidt and Keauna Schultz each led their team with 10 points. Kaylynne Asche scored six, Kasey Moeller scored four, and Sydney Reynolds and Maddie Schroeder each added one.

Greensburg next hosts North Decatur Thursday night.
