Greensburg —
The Greensburg Lady Pirate Golfers hosted Columbus East Tuesday night in sunny but very windy conditions that affected the scores of both teams.
"The wind and two pin placements played a major factor in scoring on the back 9," according to Greensburg coach Terry Alverson.
Columbus East defeated the Pirates 203-213.
Meet medalist was Eppley from Columbus East with a 48. No one else broke 50. Low for Greensburg was Ella Westhafer with a 51. Sara Treash shot a 53, Hayley Williams, 54, Tori Giddings, 55, and Alexis Crist, 69.
"Alexis was coming back after several days off due to an elbow injury," said Alverson. "Ella played well tonight despite being ill. I'm not dissatsified with our scores."
Alverson said Treash improved her score because she was able to make an adjustment to her swing.
"Sara's score reflected what I thought would happen when we made a correction to a swing flaw that was affecting her accuracy," he said. "Tori Giddings did a great job tonight. We looked at video of her swing and made a couple of changes, which have her headed in the right direction. Hayley, in my opinion, is a natural. It would not take much for her to score better."
Greensburg hosts South Dearborn and Franklin County Monday in a 3-way Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference match.
