Decatur County Youth Soccer Club Kicks Off Spring

Greensburg — The Decatur County Youth Soccer Club kicked off its spring season last week.

The DCYSC consists of 150 kids playing soccer this spring, its largest turnout ever for the spring season, according to board president Mike Myers. The teams games every Saturday from now through May 7 (only weekend off is Easter weekend).

The Decatur County Youth Soccer Club spring soccer season opened on March 26 amidst the cool temperatures. With more than 150 youth participating, the matches were close and competitive all day long. In the U8 Division, the Corner Store Blazers and Buffalo Wings & Rings Comets tied in an intense 0-0 contest. The second U8 game featured the KB Specialty Food Jets and the Blazers. The Blazers were victorious 3-1.

In the U10 division, the A&A Brushmowing Blasters defeated the Springmeyer Insurance Cyclones 3-0. Next, the ETC Communications Tornados defeated the Blasters 2-0 in the second contest.

Rounding out the day were the U12 and U14 intrasquad games. The U12 Houch Industries Gray defeated the Orange, 3-1. The U14 Levenstein's-Abbey Carpets Blue and Orange teams tied 3-3 all.

The U6 division was slated to start its season this past Saturday, along with week two contests at the U8, U10, U12 and U14 levels.
