Greensburg —
On Jan. 11, 2012, Abby Guyer, a fifth grader from North Decatur Elementary School, won the school's 2012 National Geography Bee and a chance to move on to the National Geographic Bee and a chance to win a $25,000 college scholarship.
Abby must first qualify for the state competition, and then compete there to be able to move on to the finals in Washington, D. C.
Madelyn Bohman finished as the runner-up in the school's competition. The other participants in the competition were 6th Graders Alexis Brandenburg, Sarah Bohman, Anjela Foster-Waterman, Kiley Cline, and Quirin Gauck; 5th Graders Madelyn Bohman, Daniel Dollinger, Justin Allgeier, Abby Guyer, and Preston Philpot.

The United States Achievement Academy announced recently that Katelyn D. Chambers of Greensburg has been recognized by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in Fine Arts. Katelyn is also an honor roll student.
