Greensburg —
Former Daily News columnist Herb Hunter, who authored "The Pill Box" for several years, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Pharmacy at commencement ceremonies Aug. 11 in Gainesville, Fla.
His lovely wife, Julia, accompanied him to the event.
Hunter was among 70 candidates nationwide who were ceremonially hooded, signifying successful completion of the three-year course of study, on the campus of the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy, in a mid-day observance.
W. Thomas Smith Jr., PharmD., J.D., was the commencement speaker, and he gave a motivating account of his daily battle with physical disabilities.
Hunter is currently the director of pharmacy services at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.
