The Night Extension Homemakers held the June 6 meeting at Betty Lecher's home with Loretta Macyauski as co-hostess. The club enjoyed the company of two visitors, Beth and Ellie Moorman. President Linda Weigel opened the meeting. After the Pledge to the Flag, Betty led the club in prayer. The secretary and treasurer reports were given.
Under Old and New Business: 1) Members discussed plans for the WoMen Just
Want to Have Fun program in October. Members are encouraged to bring more ideas to the July meeting. 2) The committee for the Riley Hospital and Decatur County Extension Homemakers 4-H Fair posters will meet the week of June 18, if possible. Also, the puppy pillow sewing session(s) will be on Tuesday and/or Wednesday at the fair. 3) Members turned in items for New Directions. 4) It was announced that fair books will be handed out soon. Program books were filled out.
Linda gave the lesson on ÒTaming the T.V. MonsterÓ. Television is one of the main ways we get information in our homes. The average American watches 4 hours of TV every day. For tips on what parents can do visit YourChild: Managing Television: Tips For Your Family. Also, Loretta M. gave the Health and Safety Tip on how to avoid fatigue when traveling by bus, plane, car, and boat. Be sure to stand as much as you can, drink plenty of water, and wear lose clothing.
Game Winners: The Mystery Box winner was Linda W. Janet Bedel won the
ÒFlowerÓ game. Everyone received a prize. Catherine Mauer won the hostess prize.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. July 10 at the City Park by the tennis courts. The lesson will be ÒSave Some Green by Going GreenÓ by Bessie Ploeger.
