William C. Morrison, 74, Arlington, Va. formerly of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, March 11 at his home in Arlington, Va.
Born September 24, 1935 in Greensburg, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. J.T. Morrison. He was a 1953 graduate of Greensburg High School and Georgetown University. He served in the Air Force and spent time in Paris as adjutant to General Norstad. Bill joined the Meat Importers Council of America, Inc. (MICA) in 1979 to fill the newly created position of Executive Director and Secretary and occupied that position until his retirement in 2001. Bill’s jovial character and networking skills proved invaluable in establishing MICA in Washington. MICA was formed in 1962 as a non-profit trade association representing members engaged in the purchase, importation, handling and sale of imported meat in the United States. Initially, located in New York City, the office was moved to Arlington, Virginia, for easier access to government when Bill came on board in 1979.
He is survived by his Sister: Nancy (William) Arnold of Ney, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a Graveside service on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.gilliland-howe.com.
