Fred William Saler, 89

Fred William Saler, 89 of Greensburg passed away at Morning Breeze Nursing Home on Friday, March 12.

He was born on May 20, 1920 in Decatur County the son of Charles and Pauline (Suding) Saler. He married Rita Fischer on February 1, 1947 and she preceded him in death on February 6, 2006. Fred worked at Bohn Aluminum for 35 years and owned Saler Shoe Repair. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a US Army Veteran having served in WWII.

Survivors include: Daughters, Nita (and Dan) Hauser of Liberty Township, Ohio, Helen (and Dick) Froehling of Greensburg, Dee (and Bob) Kilgore of Plainfield, Dot (and Rob) Stewart of Avon, Marti (and Gary) Lux of Plainfield, Diane (and Marc) Myers of Plainfield; Sons, Jerry (and Diane) Saler of Greensburg, Jim (and Lynne) Saler of Greensburg, Sisters, Mary Kipp of Cincinnati, Sister Helen Saler of Oldenburg, Charlotte (and Don) Redelman of Greensburg; Brother, William Saler of Noblesville, 21 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and 3 more on the way.

He was preceded in death by: his Parents, Charles and Pauline Saler; Wife, Rita Saler, Daughter, Patricia Ann Moeller; Brother, Francis Saler; Sisters, Martha Clark and Clara Merkel.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 15 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with a Rosary at 2:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Msgr. Harold Knueven will be officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
