Charles "Art" G. Artmeier 78


Charles "Art" G. Artmeier 78 of New Martinsville, W. Va. formerly of Clarksburg, Ind., passed away Sunday Dec. 6 at the Wetzel County Hospital in West Virginia.

He was born July 1, 1931 in Franklin County, the son of Louis and Mary Artmeier. He was a Construction insulator by trade and retired from the former Gordon Brothers Auto Parts in New Martinsville and Moundsville, West Virginia. He served in the U.S, Navy from 1950 to 1954 aboard the USS Albany. He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge # 931 both in New Martinsville, West Virginia. He graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1949.

He is survived by one son, Bruce Artmeier of Colorado; two step daughters, Carol (John) Skinner of New Martinsville, W.Va., and Jackie Liverman of Virginia.; one step son, Randy McRae of Virginia; two brothers, Dr. Richard A. (June) Artmeier of Mt. Dora, Fla., and David A. (Connie) Artmeier of Rushville; four sisters, Geraldine Moore Brown, Gwyndlene (Donald) Mathews, Martha L. (Hubert) Wilhoit all of Greensburg; and Mary C. (John) Vail of Clarksburg; one sister-in-law, Martha Sue Artmeier of Bloomington; three step grandsons, John (Kim) Skinner, Larry Liverman and Aaron McRae all of Virginia.; three granddaughters, Daniella, Gaberille, and Noelle Artmeier all of Colorado; one step granddaughter, Sheely McRae of Virginia and four great grandchildren also survive.



Friends may call at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Wednesday December 9, 2009 from 3:00 until 7:00PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday December 10, 2009 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home at 10:00AM with the Reverend Danny Wolford officiating. Burial will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Class of 1990 Scholarship Fund, in care of: Doolin Bank, 610 N.
