John W. Moore, 72
John W. Moore, 72 of Westport, passed Sunday, Nov. 29 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 22, 1937 in Medora, Ind., to parents Fred and Mary (Shepherd) Moore. He was raised in Fountain County and has been a resident of Decatur County since 1952. He was a lifelong farmer and was a heavy equipment operator for the State Highway for 25 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church at Greensburg and a former member of the Lions Club in Greensburg.
He served in the Indiana National Guard for eight years and enjoyed going to car shows with his Red 1931 Ford Roadster and camping.
He was married to Joan Bentley on Sept. 14, 1958 at the Mt. Aerie Baptist Church in Letts.
Survivors include: wife Joan Moore of Westport; two daughters, Barbara Ann Adams of Muncie and Becky (Jim) DeArmond of Westport; one son Ronald (Diana) Moore of Westport; one sister Karen A. (Bill) Finley of Greensburg; one brother Fred (Okyi) Moore of Greensburg; father-in-law Elvin Bentley of Greensburg; 10 Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Adrian Adams and mother-in-law Bernice Bentley.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Wolford officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Aerie Cemetery in Letts.
