Waldo I. Dwenger, Jr., 69, Hamburg, passed away Nov. 25 at his residence.
Born Sept. 17, 1940 in Franklin County, he married Nola Davidson on Feb. 11, 1961 in Oneida, Ky. He worked for Batesville Casket Company for 40 years before retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Church on the Rock Assembly of God Church in Batesville.
Waldo was a quiet individual who enjoyed spending time outdoors. Having a large acreage, he was content to spend hours out on his tractor. His greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren and he liked to share his love of the outdoors with them, often taking them down to the creek to skip stones on the water. Waldo was a talented wood worker who had made many pieces for Nola and as well as swings for the grandchildren. He also enjoyed a good meal and was especially fond of fish. Cod was a favorite of his and he especially liked Nola’s fried dried apple pies.
He is survived by his wife, Nola; sons, Jeff Dwenger, Flomaton, Ala., and Greg Dwenger of Oneida, Ky.; sisters, Emma Kroner of Sunman and Hazel Dwenger of Westport; brothers, Paris Dwenger of Delaware, Ind., and Joe Dwenger of Lawrenceburg; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 30 at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Dean officiating. Burial will be in Batesville United Methodist Cemetery.
The family requests memorials to the Hansen Center or Abundant Life Assembly of God Church.
