Ruth Elaine "March" Silver, 80

Ruth Elaine "March" Silver, 80, of Jeffersonville, formerly of Greensburg, passed away Sunday Nov. 15 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.

She was born Feb. 18, 1929 in Louisville, Ky., the daughter of Jesse D. and Margueret (Vittitoe) March. She was a 1947 graduate of Mercy Academy in Louisville, Ky. She was a homemaker and the Director of the Latch Key program for the YMCA, during the time she was Child Care Provider for 13 years at the YMCA. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg and a member of the St. Lawrence Auxiliary since 1992.

She married Frank Silver in December 1956 in Speed and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by daughter, Bonita ( Steven) Willman of Jeffersonville; sister, Barbara March of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Jack March of Danielsville, Pa.; four grandchildren, Douglas Reynolds of Louisville, Ky., Phaedra (James) Garrett of Jeffersonville, Laura Upchurch of Euless, Texas, and Emilie (Terry) Lormand of Lewisville, Texas, and six great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, one daughter Gail Lynn Silver and one brother, Jesse D. March III.

Friends may call at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19. Funeral services will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Friday Nov. 20 with Msgr Harold Knueven officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Greensburg.
