Adrienne Kay Compton, 72

Adrienne Kay Compton, 72 of Westport, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Center at Columbus.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1937 in Burney to parents Lowell Franklin and Velma Enid (Jones) Mozingo. She was a lifelong resident of Westport and Decatur County. She graduated from the Napoleon High School in 1955.

Compton was the owner of the “It’s New To You” store in Westport. She also worked as a caregiver for several people in the Westport community. She had previously owned the Pizza Place, Pine Lake Restaurant and Kay’s Catering. She was also a former employee at Marsh Supermarket.

She was a member of the Westport Area Business Association and a former member of the Moose Lodge at North Vernon and the Eagles Lodge at Greensburg. She enjoyed reading, cooking and her grandchildren.

She was married to Howard J. Compton in Westport on June 10, 1955. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 2007.

Survivors include: five Daughters, Kathy (Ron) Ross of Westport; Brenda (Ray) McQueen of Hope; Mary (Trevor) Speer of Westport; Laura (David) Akemon of O’Fallon, Illinois; Angela (Darin) Cunningham of Westport; one Son Gregory Howard Compton of Butlerville, Indiana; three sisters Reita (Howard) Watson of Greensburg; Wilma (Paul) Struckman of Osgood; Vickie (Sam) Wentzel of Greensburg,

6 Brothers, Marlin "Bud" (Shirley) Mozingo of Greensburg; Stanley (Ruth) Mozingo of Osgood; Ivan Mozingo of Napoleon; Fred Mozingo of Holton; Aaron (Karen) Mozingo of Holton; Earl (Rita) Mozingo of Greensburg;

1 Brother-in-law Bill Colson of Greensburg. She also had 22 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brother Dyer Gordon Mozingo, sister Janet Lee Mozingo and one great grandson, Jesse Ross.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. Pastor Mike Bartlett and Rev. Larry Schryer will be officiating.
