Larry L. Nighbert, 61
Larry L. Nighbert, 61, of Napoleon passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
He was born at Anderson on Sept. 20, 1947 to Robert and Marian Jeffries Nighbert. Mr. Nighbert was a 1965 graduate of Frankton high School. He was a 32 year employee at Muscatatuck retiring in 2003. He enjoyed farming and collecting John Deere tractors.
He was married to Judy Poulson on June 3, 1967 and she preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1999. He was married to Phyllis Downey Swinney on June 5, 2004 and she is still living.
He also has a son, Larry C. Nighbert and his companion Patricia Blum of Osgood; one daughter, Peggy (Jim) Johannigman of Osgood; four grandchildren; three step-daughters Julie (Jeff) Royce and Michelle (Vince) Green both of North Vernon and Sara (Zeb) Hildebrand of Holton; six step-grandchildren; one brother Roger Nighbert of North Vernon; four sisters, Sheila (Junior) Ocboa of Frankton, Vicky (Tony) Cantrell and Joyce (Mike) Goodman both of Alexandria, and Diana (Tom) Gibson of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Norman.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. David Shivers of the Hopewell Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at Napoleon.
Memorials may be given to the cemetery or the Hopewell building fund in care of the funeral home.
